Contemplatives and Evangelizers: The Lifestyle of the Apostle of the Kingdom Presented from the Dynamics of Encounter with Christ
The weekend of December 11 and 12, the monthly Formation Day of the Philosophy community was held, organized together with the Life and Mission area of Regnum Christi to deepen into the essay “Contemplatives and Evangelizers”, connecting it with the activity of Encounter with Christ.
In the words of Viviana Limón, consecrated member of Regnum Christi: “the Encounter with the living Christ does not leave us the same, but gives us a new perspective on our history”. It is a path to know and live our charism and mission.
Father Sylvester Heeren, LC pointed out some paths or ways to be contemplative and evangelizers according to our own charism: gratitude (letting ourselves be gifted and knowing how to gift), adoration, and sharing our own life.
Emilio Martínez, lay consecrated member of Regnum Christi, conducted a historical overview of the Encounter with Christ, which originated as a method of apostolic discernment in the Christian Youth Workers, with the goal of forming from life and for life, identifying events, seeing them as God sees them, and giving an evangelical judgment.
The second part was focused on the different parts of the Encounter with Christ. The Father Anton Vogelsang, LC led the evangelical reflection based on the passage that most clearly describes a day in the life of Jesus (Mark 1:21) and analyzed it based on the essay Contemplative and Evangelizer.
The last two modules, in which Father Rafael Ducci, LC, and Brother Jaime Plascencia, LC, participated, were focused on the believing reading of the reality and the purposes of the encounter. To do this, the brothers were divided into their different teams analyzing some current social situations with the aim of “discovering the seeds of God present in culture”, and reflecting on how, from their current situation, they can commit themselves.
