In Curitiba, Brazil, the ceremony was held by Monsignor Dimas Lara Barbosa, Archbishop of Campo Grande. Family members, friends, and the Legionary community and Regnum Christi accompanied this moment.
On Saturday, May 25, 2024, in the city of Curitiba, Brazil, Father René Gomez, LC, was ordained a priest, and Father Felipe Colodel, LC, was ordained a deacon. The ceremony took place at San Francisco de Paula Parish. The ordaining bishop was Monsignor Dimas Lara Barbosa, Archbishop of Campo Grande.
During the homily, Monsignor Lara reminded those present that “The life of the consecrated is not a bed of roses. We will have to face persecutions. We will be called crazy. But, always remember to return to the origins of your vocation’s history and remember that it is a gift from God.”
Participating in the Eucharistic concelebration were legionaries from various communities across Brazil. Novices and postulants were also present, as well as students from the Curitiba Vocational Center. Also accompanying Fathers René and Felipe were the consecrated members of Regnum Christi and numerous lay members of Regnum Christi from different parts of the country.
Father René Gómez, LC, was born on December 25, 1987, in Oaxaca, Mexico. He entered the Novitiate of Monterrey in 2004 and was later sent to the Novitiate of Salamanca, Spain. He made his first religious profession on September 15, 2006. He studied a year of humanities at Cheshire and earned his bachelor’s degree in philosophy at Thornwood. He completed his apostolic internship as a vocational promoter in Colombia. In 2013, he returned to Rome to begin his licentiate in philosophy. In 2015, the year he made his perpetual profession, he collaborated as a training instructor at the Oaklawn Academy in the United States. In 2015, he returned to Rome to study theology. Since 2021, he has been involved in pastoral work in Brazil as an assistant for the Ecyd and as a training instructor at the Everest School of Curitiba.
Father Felipe Colodel, LC, was born on November 22, 1989, in Campo Largo, Paraná, Brazil. He entered the São Paulo Novitiate Center on March 11, 2006. He made his first religious profession on February 24, 2008. He studied a year of humanities at Cheshire and earned his bachelor’s degree in philosophy at the Pontifical Athenaeum Regina Apostolorum. From 2011 to 2015, during his apostolic internship, he was a vocational promoter in Brazil and a member of the auxiliary team of the Ecyd in Porto Alegre and São Paulo. In 2015, he returned to Rome to begin his licentiate in philosophy. In 2017, he made his perpetual profession, and from 2021, he returned to Brazil, where he has collaborated with the Ecyd in São Paulo and Curitiba. He currently works in vocational promotion at the Vocational Center in Brazil.
