The path to follow after the General Convention, the development of teamwork, and leadership skills for strengthening apostolic and pastoral work in the territories were part of the working sessions in the general direction in Rome.
Between September 16 and 26, at the general headquarters of the Legionaries of Christ, located in Rome, the assembly of territorial directors was held, which, together with the director, the secretary, and the general counselors, addressed various topics and activities with the purpose of strengthening teamwork and the impact of the apostolic and pastoral activities carried out in the 21 countries where the Legion has a stable presence (Of interest: Official data and statistics of the Legionaries of Christ).
Father André Delvaux (Brazil), Gabriel Bárcena (Chile), Carlos Ortíz (Colombia-Venezuela), Shawn Aaron (North America), Zavio Zanetta (Italy), Alberto Simán (Mexico and Central America), Carlos Gutiérrez (Northern Mexico), Javier Cereda (Spain), and Valentín Gögele (Central and Western Europe), LL.CC., participated in the working and study days, as well as learning firsthand about the objectives, projects, and proposals of the different areas that make up the general direction of the Congregation.
For Father Luis Alberto Henao, L.C., Secretary General of the Legion, the assembly of territorial directors is an opportunity to “continue promoting management and projection in unity thanks to reports, proposals, workshop development, and deepening in topics such as the General Convention.” Father Henao emphasized that this assembly “begins the discernment process toward the 2026 General Chapter”.
On the other hand, Father Jesús Villagrasa, L.C., General Counselor of the general direction, indicated that these meetings with the director and the council are very important to “seek unity in the Legionary mission and with Regnum Christi”.
One of the most notable activities was the work carried out towards a Territorial Deployment Plan of the priorities and projects emanating from the General Convention, together with members of the different general management teams that make up Regnum Christi (See “Strategic Alignment 2024-2030”).
Finally, the fathers participated in several sessions on communication to strengthen their skills to communicate better and thus develop their leadership as directors more effectively.
Thus, the individual and team work during this week of assembly aligns with what was expressed in the 2021 Annual Letter: “Today’s man, and man of all times, needs to see, hear, and learn from other men who have survived life’s tests; apostles, like the first twelve, who have suffered as they did and persevered in the battle of life” (Letter of September 15, 2021).
