In a ceremony presided over by Mons. Pedro Pablo Elizondo Cárdenas, L.C., Bishop of Cancún-Chetumal, at Cristo Redentor Parish in San Salvador, Father Luis Eduardo Rodríguez Alger, L.C., was ordained a priest in the presence of family, friends, and members of the community.
During his homily, Mons. Pedro Pablo emphasized that the priestly vocation is not a personal choice but a response to God’s call. “He loved us first, He was ahead of us before we could defend ourselves from His embracing love,” he expressed. Addressing the newly ordained priest, he highlighted the centrality of Christ in his mission and encouraged him to embrace his ministry with humility and total dedication. He explained that priestly authority should not be seen as power but as service, following the example of Christ, who came into the world not to be served but to serve and to give His life out of love.

The bishop urged the newly ordained priest to walk alongside his flock, listening and guiding by example, without leaving anyone behind. He also encouraged him to extend the Kingdom of God in every heart and society and asked the Virgin of Guadalupe to accompany him in his ministry.
At the end of the ceremony, Father Alberto Simán, L.C., Territorial Director of the Legionaries of Christ in Mexico and Central America, thanked Mons. Pedro Pablo for his presence and Luis Eduardo’s family for their support in his vocational journey.
Father Luis Eduardo began his formation in the ECYD in San Salvador, and since then, his journey has taken him through Mexico, Italy, Spain, Guatemala, Costa Rica, and Israel. His preparation includes studies in Philosophy and Theology in Rome, as well as a doctorate in Philosophy from the Notre Dame Center in Jerusalem. Now, he embarks on his mission as a priest with the conviction to serve with humility and dedication.
