Statistics of the Legion of Christ as of December 31, 2015

This March 1st, the statistics of the Congregation were announced.

By the end of 2015, the Legion of Christ was stably present in 21 countries. It is organized into 9 territories and the international works of Rome. It has 10 headquarters of the general or territorial government, 77 apostolic communities, a philosophical institute, a theological institute, 2 humanities centers, 7 novitiates, and 14 vocational centers.

It also has an international pontifical seminary and a residence for priests in Rome, an interdiocesan seminary in Brazil, manages the minor seminary of the Cancún-Chetumal prelature, and the Pontifical Institute Notre Dame of Jerusalem Center in Israel.

The year 2015 concludes with a total of 1,650 Legionaries of Christ: 4 bishops, 959 priests; 546 religious in formation, and 141 novices.

During 2015, 4 priests of the Legion passed away. In the same period, 18 priests were incardinated into a diocese. 60 brothers took their first vows of the evangelical counsels, and 10 made their perpetual profession. In the same period, 76 religious with temporary or perpetual vows left the path of preparation for the priesthood in the Legion of Christ.

The average age of Legionary priests is 47 years. The average age of the entire congregation is 38 years.
