From May 4 to 7, a group of Legionary priests of Christ with less than 5 years of priesthood gathered in São Paulo to dedicate moments of reflection and fellowship.
Father Cleomar Ferronato, LC, territorial director of Brazil, and Father José Laboy, LC, territorial counselor, led the activities which consisted of communal prayer, Eucharistic concelebrations, and moments of personal reflection and prayer. The priests discussed some important aspects of these first years of their priesthood, such as spiritual life, community life, affectivity and sexuality in priestly life, mission, and ongoing formation.
All the fathers, in an atmosphere of trust and openness, shared experiences from these first years of priestly life and, within the framework of the reflections mentioned, developed objectives for the coming years. At the end, a committee was formed to focus on the structure and organization of activities for the ongoing formation of young priests in the Legion of Christ, in the territory of Brazil.
«The first years of priesthood are very important in the life of every priest. A well-led spiritual life, centered on Christ and His grace, a clear awareness of the mission that God gives us, and fraternal support among all, are the necessary foundation for the solid growth of the vocation and to bear the fruits that God wants us to give in the Church,» commented Father Fábio Guedes, LC.
