The greeting to the Most Holy Virgin

Published on 3 August, 2015
Prayers
Angelus and Regina Caeli and prayer to the guardian angel.

The greeting to the Most Holy Virgin is prayed twice a day: in the morning around noon, and in the evening around six. The “Angelus” is prayed all year round, except during the Easter season. The “Regina cæli”, from Easter Sunday until noon on Pentecost Saturday inclusive.

The Angelus

The angel of the Lord announced to Mary.
And she conceived by the Holy Spirit.

Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Behold the servant of the Lord.
Let it be done to me according to your word.

Hail Mary …

And the Word was made flesh.
And dwelt among us.
Hail Mary …

Pray for us, Holy Mother of God.
That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

Let us pray: We ask You, Lord, to pour Your grace into our minds, so that we, who have known through the message of the angel the mystery of the incarnation of Your Son, may be led to the glory of the resurrection, through the merits of His cross and passion. Through the same Christ our Lord.

Amen.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. (Three times)

Regina Caeli

Rejoice, Queen of Heaven, alleluia.
Because He whom you deserved to carry in your womb, alleluia.

He has risen as He foretold, alleluia.
Pray for us to God, alleluia.

Rejoice and be glad, Virgin Mary, alleluia.
Because truly the Lord has risen, alleluia.

Let us pray: O God, who filled the world with joy through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, grant us, through the intercession of His Mother, the Virgin Mary, to attain the happiness of eternal life. Through Christ our Lord.

Amen.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.

As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. (Three times)

Prayer to the guardian angel

Angel of the Lord, who art my guardian; since divine providence entrusted me to you, enlighten me, guard me, govern me, and lead me this day. Amen.
