International Meeting on the Ideology of the Regnum Christi Schools

Published on 3 August, 2015
News

The ideario aims to reflect the general principles for all schools directed and advised by the Regnum Christi.

For two years, and within the framework of the renewal and updating process we have been undertaking as a Catholic movement, work has also been ongoing in creating an ideario for the Regnum Christi schools on the identity and mission we have in the educational field. The ideario seeks to reflect the general principles for all schools directed and advised by the Regnum Christi, subsequently adapting and complementing it in each territory according to their needs.

Therefore, Fr. Eduardo Robles Gil, LC, general director of the Regnum Christi, convened an international meeting held from June 22 to 28 at the Inter-American Cultural Center in Tlalpan, Mexico City, where twenty-five people from various territories dedicated to pastoral work in the area of schools participated. This meeting was presided over by Jorge López, as the person responsible for the schools area of the General Committee of the Regnum Christi.

Under the motto “You must be born again” (Jn 3:5), other topics were also reviewed, such as: the pastoral program of the schools, the degree of integration the school is achieving in each locality and its collaboration with the sections of the Movement, the training of trainers, the renewal of the pedagogical model of the schools, the work of the ICIF (International Center for Integral Formation), among others.

Fr. Cleomar Ferronato, LC, delegate for educational centers in the territory of Brazil and recently appointed territorial director of Brazil, shared his experience: “We all know that this is a time with many challenges, and we cannot just stand by. Undoubtedly, there are things we have done well, but we must also change, renew, and find different ways to evangelize in our schools. I have also seen how we are focusing especially on the teachers, who are, in fact, the primary trainers of our students.”

The participants from each territory were: from Mexico and Monterrey: PP. Carlos Pi and Alfredo Márquez, LLCC, Luz Teresa Miranda, Gabriela Garza, Joaquín Cervantes, Eduardo Grandío, Mónica García de Luca, Julio Fernández, Cecilia Lozano, and Irma Delgado. From Brazil: Zeni Baldasso and Fr. Cleomar Ferronato, LC. From Spain: Fr. Manuel Salord LC, Aleria Harrington, and Antonio Sastre. From Colombia and Venezuela: Andy Rojas. From Chile: Fr. Javier Romano LC, África Pemán, and Juan Ignacio Rodríguez. From Italy: Lourdes Zorrilla. From the United States: Scott Madgey. Also participating on behalf of the General Directorate were: Jorge López, Viviana Limón, Vero Fernández, and Beatriz Pimentel.
