Preparatory Prayer
(to place myself in God’s presence)
Lord, if only today I understood what can lead me to peace, to eternal happiness! I believe in You, trust in Your mercy, and love You with all my heart. I want to take advantage of this opportunity You give me to meet You heart to Heart in this meditation.
Gospel of the Day
(to guide your meditation)
From the holy Gospel according to Saint Luke 19:41-44
At that time, when Jesus drew near Jerusalem and saw the city, He wept over it and exclaimed:
“Would that you, even you, knew on this day what makes for peace! But now it is hidden from your eyes. The days will come upon you when your enemies will build ramparts around you, and encircle you and hem you in on every side. They will crush you to the ground, and will leave you desolate. They will not leave in you one stone upon another, because you did not recognize the time of your visitation.”
Word of the Lord.
Reflect on what God tells you in the Gospel
(we suggest you read what the Pope said)
The chosen people, even having received many benefits, had not listened to Him. God has given everything, but has received only bad things in return. Fidelity has disappeared; you are not a faithful people.
This is God’s story. It seems as if God were crying here. He loved you so much, He gave you so much, and you… Everything against me. Jesus also wept while looking at Jerusalem. Because in Jesus’ heart was all this history where fidelity had disappeared. We do our will, but by doing so on the path of life, we follow a path of hardening: the heart hardens, petrifies; and the Word of the Lord does not enter. And the people turn away. Our personal history can also become this. And today, we can ask ourselves: ‘Do I listen to the voice of the Lord, or do I do what I want, what I like?’ (Cf Homily of H.H. Francis, March 12, 2015, in Santa Marta).
Dialogue with Christ
This is the most important part of your prayer, prepare to speak with much love to the One who loves you.
Purpose
Set a personal one. The one that involves the most love in response to the Beloved… or, if you believe it is what God asks of you, live what is suggested below.
This week, I will write every day all the lights and inspirations I receive from the Holy Spirit, and I will try to act on them quickly, confidently, and generously.
“The way of the Kingdom of Heaven is obedience to God’s will, not repeating His name.”
(Saint Hilary, in Catena Aurea)
