The past March 6th, the Monterrey Novitiate began the jubilee year on the occasion of its 25th anniversary. The Mass was presided over by Father Peter Coates, LC, one of the founders of the Novitiate. The priests of the Center concelebrated. During the homily, he spoke about how the only thing that matters in our life is learning to love and that this is the only purpose of a novitiate.
After the Eucharistic celebration and during dinner, Father Peter shared his experiences about the foundation, recalling the efforts of many laypeople and legionaries, especially Father Eugenio Blanco, LC, who passed away in September 2016. In his words, he exhorted the community to continue seeking holiness of life. He reminded everyone that more than personal qualities, what truly matters is holiness of life, because the work is God’s and He knows how to work wonders.
This is the first of various activities that will be held at the center to celebrate the jubilee year. Additionally, it aims to thank the many legionaries who have passed through the Novitiate over the twenty-five years and who are now working pastorally in different parts of the world; others continuing their studies at other Legion centers.
