In the context of the 25th anniversary of the founding of the Pontifical Athenaeum Regina Apostolorum, Fr. Clemens Gutberlet, LC will undertake a bicycle journey from the Vatican to Lourdes (France) to evangelize, carry prayer intentions, and raise funds for the training of the Athenaeum’s students.
The initiative “Tour to France – Pedaling for Scholarships” will begin on July 22 at 6:30 a.m. (local time) at St. Peter’s Square and will end on July 29 in Lourdes.
Fr. Gutberlet, who has been collaborating with the Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life of the Holy See since 2006, will be accompanied by the Italian cycling group “Fatato” and is expected to pass through cities in northern Italy and southern France such as Pisa, Genoa, Vicoforte, Avignon, Nimes, Montpellier, and Carcassonne.
“I consider it a gift from God that during the 25th anniversary of my alma mater I can combine two of my great passions: cycling and comprehensive Christian formation. The goal is because students need two things: motivation and means,” said the 52-year-old German priest.
“With my bicycle expedition in July, I want to encourage students to dedicate themselves wholeheartedly and joyfully to their own formation to make a positive difference in the world,” expressed Fr. Gutberlet.
