Upon celebrating the approval of the Constitutions, the feast of Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque immediately comes to mind, as the religious congregation is dedicated to the Sacred Heart (Cf. CLC, 7 and 9). It is also noteworthy that on a day like today, in 1978, Saint John Paul II was elected Pope, who inspired many people through his life to make Christ the center of their own lives (Cf. CLC, 8).
The Constitutions present Christ as the center of the life of the Legionary of Christ, encouraging an active life in apostolate and a contemplative life in prayer to help others encounter Him, fall in love with Him, and give their lives for Him (Cf. CLC 4; 8; 11 and 12).
On this 5th anniversary of the approval of the Constitutions, we thank God for the gift of the Legion of Christ and ask Him to grant us the grace to conform ourselves more and more each day to Christ, the supreme rule of the religious (Cf. CLC, 235).
