The Rev. Carlos Ortiz, L.C., was born in Rionegro, Antioquia, Colombia, on October 18, 1978. He entered the Vocational Center of Rionegro in November 1995 for the pre-candidacy. He entered the Novitiate of Medellín, Colombia, on February 6, 1997. He took his first religious vows on February 6, 1999. He completed his classical humanities studies in Salamanca, Spain. He studied philosophy at the then Center for Higher Studies of Thornwood and holds a degree in philosophy from the Pontifical Athenaeum Regina Apostolorum. From July 2001 to September 2005, he carried out his apostolic practices as a novice assistant in Arujá, Brazil. He made his perpetual profession on February 27, 2005. On December 12, 2011, he was ordained a priest at the Basilica of San Giovanni in Laterano, Rome.
From September 2011 to August 2017, he was a vocations promoter in Medellín and the Coffee Axis, and in the last year, he carried out this work in Bogotá, Colombia. During these years, he was also superior of the Medellín apostolate community (2012 – 2016), superior of the Bogotá apostolate community (2016 – 2017), and counselor of the Venezuela Territory (2015 – 2018). He is currently the superior of the Altamira apostolate community in Rionegro and an instructor of novices at the same location.
