The Fr. John Bartunek, L.C., was born on January 20, 1968, in Cleveland, Ohio, United States. He began his novitiate in Cheshire, Connecticut, on September 15, 1993, made his first profession on September 15, 1995, and his perpetual profession on October 5, 2001. He was ordained a priest on October 24, 2003, in Rome. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from Stanford University (1990) and a doctorate in moral theology from the Pontifical Athenaeum Regina Apostolorum (2010).
From 1998 to 2001, he collaborated in vocational and youth ministry in New England, United States. From 2009 to 2012, he was a professor at the Center for Higher Studies in Thornwood, United States, and a professor of moral theology at the Pontifical Athenaeum Regina Apostolorum from 2015-2017. He has contributed to the publication of several books, including Inside The Passion (2005), The Better Part: A Christ-Centered Resource for Personal Prayer (2007), Spiritual but not Religious: The Search for Meaning in a Material World (2019). He has also participated as a religious topics commentator on NBC, CNN, Fox, and BBC television networks. From 2010 to 2012, he served as president of the Commission for the revision of the Constitutions of the North American territory. He was also a member of the Central Commission for the revision of the Constitutions and a member of the commission for the revision of the Ratio Institutionis of the Legion (2015-2017). Currently, he is the superior of the Detroit apostolate community and since 2016, he has collaborated as an author and creative director of production at the Regnum Christi Spirituality Center.
