Father Vinicius Marques, LC, originally from Brazil, arrived at his priestly ordination full of joy, embraced by the families of Monterrey and the love of his family who traveled a long way to be with him.
After several years of formation since joining the Vocational Center in Curitiba, Brazil, Father Vinicius faced a complicated 2020, with changes in dates and plans for his ordination. In a video shared on the Facebook page of the Northern Mexico territory (which can be seen here), he shares how the pandemic helped him reaffirm his trust in God our Lord, who is the one who calls and pulls the strings.
It was on Saturday, December 5th, at the Nativity of the Lord Parish in Monterrey, Nuevo León, where Father Vinicius received his priestly ordination from Monsignor Rogelio Cabrera López, Archbishop of the diocese and president of the Mexican Episcopal Conference.
“Divine will that goes before everything, the will of the Church that accepts you and grants you this ministry, and your will. If these three wills do not harmonize, it would not be possible to live what we are celebrating” @arzobispomty

These were words that Monsignor Cabrera directed to Father Vinicius and later shared on his Twitter social network. He added:
“Christ, who proclaims in a mysterious way, feels powerless in the face of so much need: The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few, pray to the owner of the harvest to send more workers to his fields” @arzobispomty
“What a great mystery, that Christ, the Son of God, who can do everything, wanted to involve us all in his salvation project” @arzobispomty
For the families of the Regnum Christi in Monterrey, it has been very meaningful that Father Vinicius chose to celebrate his priestly ordination in this same city where he carries out his apostolic work, despite having the option to do it in his homeland, Brazil.
In a short interview, Father Vinicius explains the special reason he had for being ordained priest in Monterrey:
“I would like my family to realize that God did not take me out of his house to have a solitary life, but that God granted me many new families.”
Father Vinicius was also accompanied by more than 9,500 people who were able to follow the ceremony through the live broadcast on Facebook.
Father Vinicius expressed special thanks to Father Alfonso Villarreal, pastor of the Nativity of the Lord, for all the facilities and support to carry out this ceremony.
