The Father John Connor, LC, General Director of the Legionaries of Christ, announced in a letter dated March 25, 2021, the Solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord, the appointment of Father André Delvaux, LC, as the territorial director of the Legionaries of Christ in Brazil for a period of three years. In it, he thanks Father Cleomar Ferronato, LC, for his service as territorial director during two terms since 2015.
In the same letter, the appointment of Father Fábio Marcos Guedes, LC, as territorial vicar is announced, along with the designation of the other territorial counselors of the Brazil Territory: Father Bruno Átila do Espírito Santo, LC, Father Alejandro Fuentes Hernández, LC, and Father Esaúl Toscano González, LC.
The new territorial government will begin its three-year term on June 15, 2021.
Father Fábio Marcos Guedes, LC
Father Fábio Marcos Guedes was born in Brasília, Brazil, on April 28, 1981. He was a member of ECYD in 1996 and joined Regnum Christi in 1997. On March 7, 1998, he entered the Legionaries of Christ, did his Novitiate in Arujá, Brazil, and made his first profession there in February 2000, with perpetual vows on February 24, 2006. He studied classical humanities in Salamanca, Spain. He holds a bachelor’s degree in theology and a licentiate in philosophy from the Pontifical Athenaeum Regina Apostolorum. He completed his apostolic practices as an assistant to philosophers in São Paulo and as a formator at the vocational center in Córdoba, Argentina.
He was ordained a priest on December 12, 2011, in Rome. During his first six years as a priest, he served as the territorial secretary of Brazil. Since 2018, he has been the director of the Ladies’ Section of São Paulo and the superior of the apostolic community in the same city. Since 2020, he has been a territorial counselor of Brazil.
On March 25, 2021, he was appointed for three years as the first counselor and territorial vicar for the Legionaries of Christ in Brazil, starting June 15, 2021.
Father Bruno Átila do Espírito Santo, LC
Father Bruno was born on April 7, 1983, in Salto, São Paulo, Brazil. In January 1997, he entered the Vocational Center in Arujá, Brazil; in March 2000, he entered the Novitiate, and in March 2002, he made his first profession of vows. He studied classical humanities in Salamanca, Spain. He holds a licentiate in philosophy from the Pontifical Athenaeum Regina Apostolorum and a doctorate in Patristic Theology from the Augustinian Patristic Institute in Rome. He completed his apostolic practices for one year as a discipline prefect at the Vocational Center in Arujá, Brazil, and two years as an assistant to humanists in Salamanca, Spain.
He was ordained a priest on December 13, 2014. Since 2020, he has been a professor and director of the Maria Mater Ecclesiae Theological Institute of Brazil.
On March 25, 2021, he was appointed for three years as a territorial counselor for the Legionaries of Christ in Brazil, starting June 15, 2021.
Father Alejandro Fuentes Hernández, LC
Father Alejandro was born on April 17, 1967, in León, Guanajuato, Mexico. He joined the Vocational Center in September 1983 in Ontaneda, Spain. In September 1984, he entered the Novitiate, and in September 1986, he made his first profession of religious vows in Salamanca, Spain. He made his perpetual vows on April 19, 1992. He studied classical humanities in Salamanca, Spain. He studied theology at the Pontifical Athenaeum Regina Apostolorum.
He was ordained a priest on December 22, 1996. Since 2015, he has been rector of the Vocational Center of Curitiba and since 2019, local coordinator of apostolate in the same city; since 2018, he has been a territorial counselor, and since 2020, territorial coordinator of safe environments.
On March 25, 2021, he was renewed for three years as a territorial counselor for the Legionaries of Christ in Brazil, starting June 15, 2021.
Father Esaúl Toscano González, LC
Father Esaúl was born on August 3, 1976, in San José de Gracia, Aguascalientes, Mexico. In September 1987, he entered the Vocational Center in León, Mexico. In September 1992, he entered the Novitiate, and in August 1994, he made his first profession of religious vows in Salamanca, Spain. He made his perpetual vows on September 15, 2000, in Salamanca, Spain. He studied classical humanities in Salamanca, Spain. He holds a bachelor’s degree in theology and a licentiate in philosophy from the Pontifical Athenaeum Regina Apostolorum.
He was ordained a priest on December 22, 2007. Since 2017, he has been director of the Everest International School in Curitiba. Since 2019, he has been superior of the apostolic community in Curitiba. Since 2018, he has been a territorial counselor, and since 2020 until June 2021, territorial vicar of Brazil.
On March 25, 2021, he was renewed for three years as a territorial counselor for the Legionaries of Christ in Brazil, starting June 15, 2021.
