Father Mario Rodríguez, LC, arrived at the altar of the Santa Rosalía temple in Chihuahua to receive the priestly ordination from Mons. Constancio Miranda Weckmann, archbishop of the Archdiocese of Chihuahua.
The young deacon began his apostolic work in the Regnum Christi community in Chihuahua just over a year ago, focusing his efforts on the care, accompaniment, and formation of young people. It has been very meaningful for the entire community that he chose to be ordained a priest in that city despite being originally from Monterrey, N.L.
When the community learned of this decision, happiness and excitement were present, making the ordination a moment of genuine encounter among the members of the Regnum Christi family and the local church, as well as a celebration of the opportunity to live the priestly ordination ceremony.
“We are very blessed to have the opportunity to accompany him and be part of his Yes to God” (Sonia Félix, lay member of Regnum Christi).
The ceremony, presided over by Mons. Constancio Miranda Weckmann, was attended by 20 priests from the archdiocese and some Legionaries of Christ. Present were the sections of the Regnum Christi community in the area, apostolates, family members, friends, and students from the Everest College Chihuahua.
Father Felipe de Jesús Castro, LC, superior of the Chihuahua community, introduced the young priest to make the ordination request before the archbishop. Mons. Miranda delivered his message, placing Jesus Christ as the model and emphasizing that the world demands holy priests, obedient to the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, who are transformed and increasingly resemble the one who is the source of all holiness.
“We sincerely desire and hope that you live this vocation to holiness with intensity” (Mons. Constancio Miranda, Archbishop of Chihuahua).
Father Mario was able to distribute communion to his parents, family, and friends. At the end of the celebration, the archbishop knelt to ask the young priest for his blessing.
