Testimony of Fr. Aarón Robles Amador LC

Testimonies 2022
Come, be my Light.

Fifteen years ago, in June 2007, I left my home at the age of 20 with a restlessness in my heart: —Does God really want me as a missionary? — Neither my family nor I understood what I was doing. At that moment, I was following my heart instead of my reason…

My dad and mom fought every day to give their three children the best, of whom I am the youngest. They slept little and worked from dawn to dusk with the firm desire to offer us what they did not have. They gave me the best education knowing that it would be the only and best inheritance they could give. I thank God every day because they made me the man I am. I am not perfect, but I desire to love with the same strength with which I was loved by them.

My friends were my second family. They were the face of God in my youth even without knowing it. In them, I found warmth, joy, enthusiasm, and sincere appreciation. We grew and walked together through life. The years have built the solidity of a relationship that still shines today despite the distance. I feel privileged to be their friend.

Three religious women, Catechist Missionaries of Saint Joseph, showed me, through actions and words, what it means to love God to the point of self-forgetfulness. They showed me the purest happiness I had ever known. Their joy and enthusiasm drew me back to God after several years away from Him and would eventually be the door through which God would invite me to religious life.

In Regnum Christi, I learned to say with my heart: «Christ the King, Our! Come, Your Kingdom!». This phrase naturally touched my heart and propelled me to be His instrument through evangelization missions. Faith and grace touched my heart and allowed me to experience what it feels like to be loved by God. I discovered that bringing Christ’s love to people was what my heart longed for most… all that remained was to know if the Legion of Christ and Regnum Christi were the place.

I burned my boats and entrusted to God the opportunity to conquer my heart. I said goodbye to family and friends. With sadness in my heart, I left my city to embark on a journey that would take me through Monterrey, Rome, and Colombia. I never would have imagined all that I experienced and learned there. It has not been an easy path, as there have been moments of difficulty, crisis, doubt, and conflict. However, I have experienced a love I had never known before. God was gradually working in my heart through an increasingly vivid, deep, and simple experience. Without any mysticism, I can say that I feel loved by God, and the only thing I seek is to love Him. I can only say that when He touches the deepest part of your being, all reasons disappear, leaving only the joy of His presence.

In Monterrey, Rome, and Colombia, God granted me the chance to meet wonderful people who showed me the face of God. He has walked with me through all of them, whom I thank today and will continue to thank always. They know who they are and how much I appreciate them because in life, we do not go alone, nor will we ever be alone. For some reason, God united my life with each of them, and today I continue praying for them so that God may bless and accompany them always.

God came to meet me and loved me. His love is what has shaped my heart and sent me to proclaim the reality of a love that does not run out and surpasses all limits. That is my daily motivation. I long to enjoy His presence and hope to share this experience with the people on my path. That is why I title this testimony «Come, be my Light». God called Saint Mother Teresa to be a light, the Light of God on earth. I share with her this hope and vocation. I ask God that the love I have received over all these years may be a small light and testimony that there is a much greater Light, capable of touching, healing, and glorifying any heart, even the most wounded. God created us to be loved, and He is the purest love that calls us and seeks us. I also hope you can let Him in and experience His strength and greatness.
