From September 30 to October 2, the 14th World Congress of Families will be held, with the theme “Supporting Families in a Challenging World.” The event will take place at Expo Santa Fe in Mexico City. After the congresses were suspended due to the pandemic, the opportunity has arisen once again to hold an in-person congress on the topic of family.
Among the speakers is Cardinal Aguiar Retes, Archbishop Primate of Mexico; Christopher West, founder of the Theology of the Body Institute; Spanish director and filmmaker Juan Manuel Cotelo; Dr. Sharifa Noaman Al-Emadi, Executive Director of the International Family Institute of Duhail (Qatar); Dr. Enrique Rojas, Professor of Psychiatry and Director of the Spanish Institute of Psychiatric Research in Madrid; and a distinguished lineup that can be seen here.
Additionally, there will be participation from three Legionaries of Christ, Fathers Guillermo Serra, Adolfo Güémez, and Ángel Espinosa, who will give lectures on the family on Saturday, October 1st. To see the schedule for the three days, visit here.
The World Congress of Families (WCF) is an international, interfaith public event that aims to unite and equip leaders, organizations, and families to affirm, celebrate, and strengthen the family as the fundamental and natural environment for the flourishing of mature individuals and sustainable societies.
“The family is our natural habitat, the first community of life, a space of belonging, welcome, and encounter. It develops and humanizes us like no other institution; it drives us toward fulfillment. But it is not immune to conflict and suffering. There are no perfect families; there are more or less functional ones. Countless challenges and aspirations, internal and external circumstances, test its members daily, for which we are usually not sufficiently prepared. We must recognize this and support families in the comprehensive and full development of their members, for the benefit of each individual and our society as a whole,” reads on the congress website, as one of the main reasons for holding it.
