Altar servers can serve the priest, care for the altar service, and assist in the liturgy, shaping their lives more and more with Christ
“We act as ambassadors for Christ” (2Cor 5:20)
On Sunday, March 26, 22 brothers from the theology communities of the Legionaries of Christ International College and the General Directorate Headquarters were instituted as altar servers in a Eucharistic Concelebration presided over by Father Hernán Jiménez, L.C.
Based on the readings of the Fifth Sunday of Lent, Father Hernán reminded those present, especially the candidates for the ministry of altar server, of the weakness and incapacity that one can feel before the vocation to which the Lord calls. He then highlighted Jesus’ words to Martha: “Did I not tell you that if you believe, you will see the glory of God?” (cf. Jn 11:40) affirming that faith and trust in God provide the security to persevere and live faithfully the vocation to which the Lord calls us, because God is faithful. Finally, he invited the religious candidates for the ministry of altar server to configure their lives more and more with Christ so that they may be worthy to serve at the Lord’s and the Church’s table.

The newly instituted altar servers are brothers: Luis Eduardo Rodríguez Alger, LC (El Salvador), Francisco Javier Villar Ballesteros, LC (Spain), Camilo Andrés Palomino García, LC (Colombia), José Nicolás Brown Domínguez, LC (Chile), Hans Mauricio Candell Soto, LC (El Salvador), Jérome Marie Hugues Dejoie, LC (France), Gregorio Mejía Morales, LC (Mexico), Carlos Antonio Ramírez Castellanos, LC (Mexico), Fernando Bustos Ruiz, LC (Mexico), Jonathan Dionizio da Cruz, LC (Brazil), Luis Ángel Espinosa Rosas, LC (Mexico), Diego José Lobo Mendoza, LC (Venezuela), Joseph Isaac MacNaught Alaniz, LC (Mexico), Giovanni Rafael Espinoza Medina, LC (Mexico), Luis Adrián Olvera de la Cruz, LC (Mexico), Peter Paul Hemm, LC (Germany), Francesco Ucci, LC (Italy), Jaime Plascencia Figueroa, LC (Mexico), Alfonso León Sánchez, LC (Colombia), Jurandir de Oliveira Santos Junior, LC (Brazil), John Patrick Kenny, LC (United States), Héctor Miguel Santos Camacho, LC (Mexico).

What does an altar server do?
Through the Ministry of the Altar Server, the altar server is instituted to assist the deacon and serve the priest, to care for the altar service and assist in the liturgy, mainly in the celebration of the Mass; in addition, to distribute, as an extraordinary minister, the Holy Communion.
