Fr. Gonzalo Mirando was Dean of the Faculty of Bioethics at the Pontifical Athenaeum Regina Apostolorum
On Friday, March 31, the Pontifical Academy for Life (PAV) announced the appointment of 16 new “corresponding members,” among whom is a legionary: Fr. Gonzalo Miranda, LC. The appointment highlights Fr. Gonzalo’s academic background, citing him as coming from the Pontifical Athenaeum Regina Apostolorum.
The Pontifical Academy for Life “aims to defend and promote the value of human life and the dignity of the person” (Statutes no. 1). Fr. Gonzalo Miranda, LC, is a priest of Spanish origin (Gerona 1954), was dean of the bioethics faculty at the Pontifical Regina Apostolorum, an institution from which he earned his doctorate with the thesis: “Euthanasia: the pro-euthanasia anthropology and the Christian anthropology”. He is the author of 9 specialized books on bioethics and currently continues teaching at the faculty of bioethics at the Athenaeum.
With this appointment, two legionaries are members of the Pontifical Academy for Life: Fr. Alberto Carrara, LC, and Fr. Gonzalo Miranda, LC.
Additionally, Fr. Florián Rodero, LC, is part of the Pontifical Marian International Academy and Fr. Pedro Barrajón, LC, is part of the Pontifical Academy of Theology.
