Father Diego Páez Llorente LC was born on May 29, 1988, in the city of Monterrey, Mexico. He discovered the Regnum Christi at the age of 10 by participating in a small NET team in Morelia, Michoacán. From a very young age, he took part in Holy Week missions and has been close to the Movement and the Legionaries of Christ ever since. He joined Regnum Christi in 2005, at the age of 16. He was a team leader in his section, responsible for the ECYD, and in charge of integration within the youth section.
Holy Week missions were an Epiphany for Father Diego. God gradually revealed to him the purpose of his vocation.
As the years went by, Father Diego, in dialogue with his spiritual director, discovered that God was calling him to follow Him as a Legionary of Christ priest.
In the summer of 2010, he completed the candidacy course at the Novitiate of Santa María de la Montaña in Santiago, Nuevo León, and received the Legionary habit on September 14 of the same year. He made his first profession of vows on August 19, 2012. He studied classical humanities at the same formation center of Santa María de la Montaña and later, at the end of the summer of 2013, moved to Rome to pursue his philosophy studies.
From 2016 to 2019, he carried out his apostolic practices as director of the ECYD and as a training instructor at the Cumbres school in the city of Aguascalientes.
From the end of summer 2019 to 2022, he returned to Rome to study theology at the bachelor’s level and received his perpetual profession in the summer of 2021.
Today, he serves as Advisor at Highlands School in Mexico City and as director of the ECYD in his locality.
He was recently ordained a deacon on August 19, 2023, at the Basilica of Guadalupe in Mexico City.
