Varios legionarios lideraron el curso que capacitó a profesores, administradores y personal universitario de la Red de Universidades del Regnum Christi en el conocimiento y la valoración del papel fundamental que el cristianismo ha desempeñado en la formación de la civilización occidental.
How to prepare for the challenges of the new evangelization of contemporary culture? How to work and educate in values in a multivalued world? Under these questions, the Pontifical Athenaeum Regina Apostolorum, an institution member of the Regnum Christi University Network (RIU), developed the course “Christianity and Culture” which took place from July 15 to 26 in Rome. Since 2023, directors of Anáhuac Preparatory Schools have also joined the course. In 2024, 48 teachers participated, mostly from the Anáhuac Universities in Mexico, Querétaro, Puebla, Mérida, Cancún, Veracruz, Oaxaca, and Anáhuac online. Members of the central offices of the Anáhuac University Network and some schools also participated. This course began in 2017 as a training space for university leaders of the Anáhuac universities and consists of classes, study, cultural visits around Rome, and religious activities.
The team of legionaries responsible for this course included: P. Sameer Advani, LC (director), P. Daniel Ochoa, H. Roberto Allison, P. Christian Ivandic, and H. Cristian Gutiérrez, LLCC. The professors during the course were Fathers Gabriel Wendt, Fernando Pascual, Adrian Lawrence, Sameer Advani, and José Enrique Oyarzún, L.C.

The 2024 academic proposal was based on three axes that created a synergistic theoretical and experiential framework:
- The systematic -historical, philosophical, and theological- study of the key elements that constitute the “worldview” of Catholicism, particularly its view of the human person, of God, and of the natural world, and the analysis of contemporary society from this perspective.
- Guided visits to Rome, where the theory of the Catholic worldview is enriched by contemplating the historical development of Christian culture.
- Religious activities such as daily Mass, moments for confession, a pilgrimage to Assisi, and an audience with the Pope, to foster a personal and transformative encounter with Christ.
For the participants, it was an experience that helped them grow on a personal level, but also professionally, as what they learned and experienced has given them the necessary tools to better serve, accompany, and guide their teams and students in their respective institutions in human and spiritual dimensions.
For Brother Roberto Allison, L.C., who was one of the course coordinators and who led the pilgrimage to Assisi where they visited different churches and the basilica, and learned about the life of Saint Francis, he indicated that “from my role as a trainer, it was very beautiful to witness the faith experience of the participants, a renewal of spirit and hope, and how God, little by little, responds.”
Ultimately, it was a course that facilitated understanding of the role of Christianity in the development of humanity at every moment of history and how it responds to current cultural changes, emphasizing that despite the prevailing multivalues, its message, centered on faith, hope, and love, remains relevant.
