We present the details of the apostolic journey that the Holy Father will undertake to Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, East Timor, and Singapore.
Last Monday, September 2nd at 17:15 (Rome time), Pope Francis departed from Rome-Fiumicino International Airport heading to Jakarta, Indonesia. This will be the first stage of his extensive apostolic journey to Asia and Oceania, which will also include Papua New Guinea, East Timor, and Singapore, making it the longest of his pontificate.
Indonesia
Tuesday 3: Landing at Jakarta “Soekarno-Hatta” International Airport and then the official welcome ceremony will take place.
Wednesday 4: Welcome ceremony outside the Presidential Palace “Istana Merdeka”. Afterwards, the Pope will pay a courtesy visit to the President of the Republic, Joko Widodo, and then meet with authorities, civil society, and the diplomatic corps in the “Istana Negara” Presidential Palace Hall, where he will deliver his first speech. Immediately after, he will hold a private meeting with members of the Society of Jesus at the Apostolic Nunciature.
He will also meet with bishops, priests, deacons, consecrated persons, seminarians, and catechists at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Assumption. There, he will deliver his second speech. The second day will conclude with a meeting with the youth of Scholas Occurrentes at the “Grha Pemuda” Youth House.
Thursday 5: Interreligious meeting at the “Istiqlal” Mosque. Meeting with people assisted by charitable organizations at the Indonesian Episcopal Conference headquarters. Additionally, the Holy Father will preside over the Holy Mass at the “Gelora Bung Karno” stadium and deliver the homily during the ceremony.

Papua New Guinea
Friday 6: Farewell ceremony at Jakarta “Soekarno-Hatta” International Airport. Flight to Port Moresby, the capital of Papua New Guinea. This will be the second country the Pope visits on this apostolic journey.
Saturday 7: Visit to the Governor General, Robert Dadae, at the Government House. Afterwards, Francis will lead a meeting with authorities, civil society, and the diplomatic corps at the “APEC Haus” conference center, where he will deliver his speech. He will also visit children at “Street Ministry” and “Callan Services” at the Caritas technical high school. Later, he will meet with the bishops of Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands, as well as with priests, deacons, consecrated persons, seminarians, and catechists at the Marian Shrine of Our Lady of Perpetual Help.
Sunday 8: The Pope will receive the Prime Minister, Hon James Marape, at the Apostolic Nunciature and later preside over the Holy Mass at the “Sir John Guise” stadium, where he will deliver the homily and recite the Marian prayer of the Angelus. Shortly after, he will depart for Vanimo, the capital of Sandaun Province in northwestern Papua New Guinea. There, he will meet with the faithful of the Diocese of Vanimo in the square in front of the Cathedral of the Holy Cross and will address them. Later, the Pope will have a private meeting with a group of missionaries at the “Holy Trinity” School of Humanities. Afterwards, he will fly to Port Moresby.
East Timor
Monday 9: The Holy Father will meet with young people at the “Sir John Guise” stadium, deliver a speech, and then proceed to the “Jacksons” International Airport in Port Moresby, where a farewell ceremony will be held. Afterwards, he will depart from Papua New Guinea heading to East Timor. This is the third country visited by the Pontiff on this apostolic journey.
The Holy Father will arrive at the “Presidente Nicolau Lobato” International Airport in Dili, the capital of East Timor. There, the official welcome will take place outside the Presidential Palace, and he will pay a courtesy visit to the President of the Republic, José Ramos-Horta. Then, he will meet with authorities, civil society, and the diplomatic corps in the Presidential Palace hall. During this event, the Holy Father will deliver a speech.
Tuesday 10: Visit to children with disabilities at the “Irmãs Alma” school, and then a meeting with bishops, priests, deacons, consecrated persons, seminarians, and catechists at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. In this space, the Holy Father will deliver a speech. He will also meet privately with members of the Society of Jesus at the Apostolic Nunciature. In the afternoon, he will preside over the Holy Mass at the Tasitolu esplanade, where he will deliver his homily.
In his final hours in East Timor, the Pontiff will hold a youth gathering at a convention center, where he will deliver a speech and participate in the farewell ceremony at the “Presidente Nicolau Lobato” International Airport in Dili.
Singapore
The Pontiff will arrive at Singapore’s “Changi” International Airport, where the official welcome will take place. Later, he will meet privately with members of the Society of Jesus at the San Francisco Javier Retreat Center.
Thursday 12: Welcome ceremony at the Parliament House. Afterwards, a visit to the President of the Republic, Tharman Shanmugaratnam, and a meeting with the Prime Minister, Lawrence Wong. Meeting with authorities, civil society, and the diplomatic corps at the Singapore National University Cultural Center theater. During this event, Francis will deliver a speech to the attendees. The day will end with the Holy Mass at the “SportsHub” national stadium, where the Pontiff will deliver the homily.
Friday 13: Visit to a group of elderly and sick people at the Santa Teresa House. Subsequently, an interreligious meeting with young people at the Catholic Junior College, where he will deliver a speech. Shortly after, the farewell ceremony will be held at Singapore’s “Changi” International Airport, from where he will depart for Rome.
